AVALON has quite an interesting history. She started out life named GLEAM at 102’ and shortly after delivery; her first owner circumnavigated the world with his family. After returning, a six foot extension was added to allow for greater storage space, soon thereafter, she was sold. In 1998, her second owner returned the yacht to the builder in New Zealand where she received an entirely new interior and was given her present name. After enjoying many years of world family cruising, AVALON was then repurchased by her original and first owner and has remained back in their family ever since. Earning herself quite a name as one of the most celebrated Newport and St. Barth’s Bucket Regatta veterans in history; one would be hard pressed to name another yacht that embodies, more than AVALON, what “Bucket Racing” is all about. Now; having recently returned back from yet another successful tour of the South Pacific she awaits another chapter in life.
